MARCH 2026 — SAKE OF THE MONTH
FEMALE LED BREWERIES & DISTILLERIES
March is Women’s History Month. This month, we’re focusing on female toji (master brewers) and female-led breweries/distilleries making waves in the world of traditional Japanese alcohol, featuring three carefully selected Shochu and Sake! The dedication of these women as they strive for excellence in their industries serves as a new role model in this traditional industry, inspiring a whole new generation.
MO MO MO UME SHOCHU LIQUEUR
This is a fruit-based shochu liqueur from Sengetsu Shuzo in Kumamoto Prefecture. Crafted with a generous amount of locally grown red peaches, it uses Sengetsu’s honkaku rice shochu as its base. It contains approximately 30% peach juice and pulp, giving it a refreshing taste with a rich aroma and sweetness that’s reminiscent of biting into a fresh peach.

KOIMARI TREASURE JUNMAI GINJO
A sweet, grape-like aroma. Slightly sparkling upon opening. Light and smooth on the palate. Excellent balance between crisp acidity and sweetness. Pairs well with delicate ingredients, but also complements dairy-based desserts like ice cream. It works wonderfully when served like a dessert wine.
