KURI NO KANRONI
Kuri no Kanroni, chestnuts simmered in sweet syrup are used in many Japanese sweets: in few wagashi like Kuri Yōkan or Kuri Manju, in cakes and desserts( Mont Blanc), but also in some savory dishes, mainly in the traditional Japanese New Year food. Kuri kanroni itself is an osechi food and can be served on its own, it’s also very popular as “kuri kinton”: mashed sweet potatoes with chestnuts.
